United Kingdom Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) gave the green light to Valneva SE's coronavirus vaccine on Thursday, APA reports citing Teletrader.

The Valneva shot thus received its first approval in the world, while MHRA has now authorized a total of six vaccines, including the French biotech company's jab. People aged 18 to 50 are eligible to receive the vaccine with at least a four-week interval between administering the first and second shot.

"The independent Commission on Human Medicines and its COVID-19 Expert Working Group has carefully considered the available evidence are pleased to say that we have advised that the benefit risk balance is positive," Professor Sir Munir Pirmohamed, the chair of the independent Commission on Human Medicines said in a statement.
