Swedish Parliament Speaker Andreas Norlén has tasked Social Democratic Party leader Magdalena Andersson with forming a new government after her party secured the most votes in the September 13 parliamentary elections, APA reports.
The newly elected parliament will hold its first session on September 28, after which the government formation process will continue.
Andersson said she would approach the task constructively and wanted to lead Sweden in a new spirit of cooperation.
The center-left bloc led by the Social Democrats received 49.5% of the vote, securing 176 seats in the 349-member parliament.
The right-wing bloc won 48.8% of the vote and 173 seats.
