Russian Ambassador Oleg Vasnetsov will be summoned to the Moldovan Foreign Ministry because of the situation with the head of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Rechan mentioned at a government meeting, APA reports.
Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Rechan mentioned at a government meeting that at the time of Minikhanov's arrival, there were two representatives of the Russian Federation at the airport. Rechan called for restricting the movement of two employees of the Russia embassy, as well as assessing "whether one of these two [employees] deserves deportation"
The Russian Foreign Ministry said that Russia regards Moldova's decision to declare the head of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, persona non grata in the country as another unfriendly step by Chisinau towards Moscow.
Earlier, Minnikhanov said that he would not be able to take part in the Peoples' Friendship Congress in the city of Comrat.
