France is preparing to deliver two Mirage 2000 fighter jets to Ukraine, in addition to the three aircraft already delivered in 2025, APA reports citing the newspaper Le Journal du Dimanche (JDD).
Following her visit to Kyiv on February 7, French Armed Forces Minister Catherine Vautrin pledged €2 billion in aid to Ukraine. This amount includes the delivery of two 2000-5F fighter jets from the French Aerospace Force. According to the publication, these two aircraft are expected to arrive in the Ukrainian Air Force "within the next six months" and "will complement the three previous aircraft delivered in 2025."
This batch of fighter jets is part of an agreement approved by French President Emmanuel Macron back in 2024. In addition to the delivery of equipment, it also includes pilot training and aircraft modernization, including the installation of air-to-surface strike and electronic warfare equipment.
Kyiv received its first French Mirage fighters from Paris in February 2025. Information on the number of aircraft delivered was kept secret, and then-Minister of the French Armed Forces Sébastien Lecornu did not specify how many fighters were planned. However, it is now known that at least one of the aircraft delivered by the French crashed due to a technical malfunction.
