Finnish President Sauli Niinisto said on Tuesday that due to Turkiye's opposition his country is unlikely to be joining the North Atlantic Treaty Organization before September, APA reports citing Tele Trader.
In a statement made during a joint press conference with the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola in Helsinki, Niinisto said he is glad that negotiations with Ankara regarding Finland's NATO membership began, adding that he would not like to give exact dates as no significant progress has been made so far.
