European Union High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy Kaja Kallas said on Friday that the bloc aims to pass the 20th package of sanctions on Russia on February 23, APA reports, citing breakingthenews.net.

"Sanctions are working. They are severely hurting Russia's economy, and each new measure further limits its ability to wage the war. Moscow is not invincible. Its army is suffering record casualties, and its economy is under heavy strain. But [Russian President Vladimir] Putin won't end this war until the costs are higher than the benefits, and that is the point we must reach," Kallas said at the E5 meeting in Krakow, claiming that Russia is "dragging out" the war.

The diplomat's comments follow reports of the EU ambassadors failing to agree on the newest package of sanctions against Russia earlier today and reportedly agreeing to reconvene over the weekend to discuss the proposed measures again.
