International Atomic Energy Agency Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi revealed on Wednesday that IAEA is aware of recent reports about explosives allegedly placed at or near the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant (ZNPP) and that IAEA experts have so far not detected "any visible indications of mines or explosives" at the site, APA reports citing Teletrader.
However, since the agency only inspected parts of the facility, "including some sections of the perimeter of the large cooling pond," the IAEA has sought approval to gain access to "rooftops of reactor units 3 and 4" and "to parts of the turbine halls and some parts of the cooling system at the plant," Grossi added.
"Independent and objective reporting would help clarify the current situation at the site, which is crucial at a time like this with unconfirmed allegations and counter allegations," the IAEA chief pointed out.
