A gunman opened fire on police officers with a hunting shotgun in Ukraine's Chernivtsi region, wounding two officers, RBC-Ukraine reports.
According to the report, the suspect fled into a forested area after the shooting and is currently being sought by law enforcement.
Ukraine's National Police said the incident occurred early this morning in the village of Izhevtsi, Chernivtsi district.
Police officers had arrived at the home of a 54-year-old local resident to carry out investigative actions as part of a criminal case concerning the illegal possession of firearms.
During the investigative measures, the man fired several shots at the police officers with a hunting shotgun before fleeing toward the forest and going into hiding.
As a result, two police officers were injured. They are receiving medical treatment.
