In 2025, 44% of the world's 13.1 million school-age refugee children, or nearly 6 million, were out of education, according to a United Nations report, APA reports.
UN Secretary-General's spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric said declining funding risks pushing millions more children out of education and reversing the progress achieved in refugee education in recent years.
At the same time, progress was recorded in refugees' access to higher education. In 2025, the share of refugees enrolled in higher education reached a record 11%, with more than 450,000 refugees entering higher education institutions for the first time.
The report notes that this figure stood at around 9% in 2024.
