Two people were killed after a prisoner attacked convoy officers on the Vladikavkaz-Adler train in Russia, APA reports.
One of those killed was an employee of Russia's Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN), while the other was the prisoner who carried out the attack. Three other convoy officers were seriously injured.
During a stop, while one of the prisoners was being escorted from the last carriage to the toilet, he seized an automatic rifle belonging to a convoy officer and opened fire on FSIN personnel.
The prisoner, believed to be around 33 years old, was neutralized. One of the injured FSIN officers died on the way to hospital. The condition of three other wounded officers remains serious.
According to reports, the attacker had planned to escape. After seizing the officer's rifle while being taken out of the carriage, he opened fire, wounded several officers and then attempted to flee.
