Operations aimed at preventing the illegal circulation of narcotic drugs are continuing by officers of the Main Drug Control Department of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, the ministry told APA.
E. Mammadov, R. Gurbanov, N. Zeynalova, I. Mayilov, K. Rustamov, U. Aliyev, S. Suleymanov, as well as Iranian citizen S. Esmaeilnaseb, were detained during operations carried out in the capital and in the city of Ganja.
A total of 68 kilograms of narcotic drugs and 1,600 drug-containing pills were found on them.
The investigation established that the detained persons had organized the illegal circulation of drugs smuggled into the country on the instructions of drug traffickers living abroad.
Criminal cases have been launched over the facts. By court decision, the detained persons were remanded in custody.
