The peace agreement reached between Azerbaijan and Armenia in Washington is an important step forward in ensuring lasting peace and stability in the South Caucasus, said Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili in a joint press statement with his Armenian counterpart Vahagn Khachaturyan, APA's local bureau reports.
He noted that Georgia only welcomes this agreement.
"This historic agreement opens up new prospects for the future and long-term development of the South Caucasus. In a rapidly changing geopolitical environment, supporting peace and stability in the region is becoming increasingly important," Kavelashvili added.
The President emphasized that Georgia, as always, is ready to contribute to strengthening peace and stability in the region.
