"We had a strategic partnership with the United States that existed only on paper and lacked any real substance," Georgia's Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said during a government meeting, APA's Tbilisi correspondent reports.
"We have high hopes that we will be able to restart relations during the term of the new U.S. administration. We want to restore relations qualitatively and begin discussing a real strategic partnership. Until now, we had a strategic partnership with the U.S. that existed only on paper and lacked any real substance. We are strongly hopeful that the new administration will not impose demands that contradict the values of our society," Kobakhidze stated.
Note that the U.S. suspended its strategic partnership with Georgia in connection with the recent protests.
