The French President's administration has released information regarding the phone call between Emmanuel Macron and Bidzina Ivanishvili, chairman of the Georgian Dream party, APA’s Tbilisi correspondent reports.
According to the French Presidency, Macron “condemned the intimidation of representatives of civil society and the opposition, as well as the violence perpetrated by the forces of law and order against peaceful demonstrators and journalists.”
He called for the release of all those who had been arrested, and for freedom of expression and assembly to be respected. He reiterated his regret that Georgia had deviated from its European trajectory and reiterated his conviction that the relationship between the European Union and Georgia would necessarily be affected by the direction that had been or would be taken.
President Macron called for an inclusive dialogue with all political formations and representatives of civil society.

A phone conversation took place between Bidzina Ivanishvili, founder and honorary chairman of Georgia's ruling Georgian Dream party, and French President Emmanuel Macron, according to the Georgian Dream, APA’s Tbilisi correspondent reports.
The phone call, initiated by President Macron, lasted for one hour.
"Macron expressed regret over the situation in Georgia and stated his desire to contribute to fully resolving it. In turn, Bidzina Ivanishvili thanked the French President for his initiative and welcomed the idea of joint efforts. Both Ivanishvili and Macron agreed to be in contact again in the coming days and assess the progress made. The conversation lasted an hour," the statement by the Georgian Dream noted.
