According to the statement made on the Twitter account of the Ministry of National Defense, the first firing test of MIDLAS, which is produced by Roketsan and will put an end to foreign dependency in the need for a vertical launch launcher system for naval platforms, has been successfully carried out, APA reports citing Turkey Postsen.
MIDLAS, the below-deck vertical launch launcher system that only a few countries in the world can produce, will be integrated into the Istanbul frigate for the first time in 2023 and will enter the inventory of the Naval Forces Command. Thus, Turkey will be one of the few countries in the world that can use its own launcher and air defense missile from its own designed and manufactured ship.
In the statement, it was said, “We congratulate those who contributed to the implementation of MIDLAS, which will put an end to our country’s need for vertical launch launcher system for naval platforms, and wish them continued success.
Defense Industry President İsmail Demir shared, “We are laying the foundation stones of our air defense systems to be fired from our warships. The HİSAR missile was successfully fired in the first test of MIDLAS. It will be integrated into the Istanbul frigate in 2023 and will enter the Naval Forces Command inventory.”
