Erdogan: "Our brothers in the Caucasus have always taken refuge in Turkiye when they are in trouble"

"Our brothers in the Caucasus, compatriots in the Balkans have always taken refuge in Turkiye when they are in trouble," said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in his video message addressing the opening of the Global Parliamentary Conference with the organization of Turkish Grand National Assembly and Interparliamentary Union, APA's correspondent in Istanbul reports.

According to Erdogan, Turkiye is a country, which hosted most refugees in the world over the latest 7 years.

"I hope that we will decently implement the duty from now on which is inherited by our history, culture, and belief. No one can avoid his responsibility today when the greatest human movement is observed after the Second World War. About 30,000 immigrants, including mostly women and children, have lost their lives in the Mediterranean Sea over the last period. Place, fate of tens of thousands of Syrian children, who took refuge in Europe, are unknown," stressed Erdogan.
