An aircraft object illegally entered the airspace of the Republic of Moldova on Monday, September 21, from the direction of the settlement of Maiaki, Odesa region, and crossed the border near the settlement of Palanca, Ștefan Vodă district, foreign media reports.
According to the Air Operations Service, the object was detected at 12:34 p.m., amid the massive attacks launched by the Russian Federation against Ukraine. It entered the national airspace from the direction of Maiaki, Odesa region, and moved toward Palanca.
Two minutes later, at 12:36 p.m., the object left the airspace of the Republic of Moldova and returned to Ukraine, moving in the direction of the settlement of Biliaivka, according to the Ministry of Defense.
The Air Operations Service continues to monitor the national airspace in coordination with the authorities of the Republic of Moldova and external partners.
The incident occurred several hours after another unauthorized overflight reported by the Ministry of Defense. During the night of September 20–21, an unidentified aircraft object was detected in the north of the country, and the airspace in that area was temporarily restricted for 24 minutes.
