The Croatian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs said on Monday it is expelling 18 Russian diplomats and six more members of staff at the Russian Embassy in Zagreb in response to Moscow's intervention in Ukraine, APA reports citing Teletrader.
"The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs invited the Russian ambassador to express our strongest condemnation of Russia’s brutal aggression against Ukraine and the numerous war crimes that have been committed," the ministry said and noted it urged Russia to "cease all military activities immediately and withdraw its troops" from Ukraine. Croatia added it presented the Russian ambassador with a note telling Moscow it decided to "reduce the number of diplomatic and administrative staff at the Russian Embassy in Zagreb to the level of the Croatian Embassy in Moscow."
After the announcement, the Russian Foreign Ministry vowed to "respond appropriately" to the move.
