Lithuania announces final parliamentary election results

Baku-APA. The Central Electoral Commission of Lithuania (VRK) on Monday announced the final results of the new parliamentary elections, according to news reaching here, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
According to the results, eight parties get into the new parliament. The Social Democrats won 38 seats, the Homeland Union-Lithuanian Christian Democrats won 33 seats, the Labor Party won 29 seats.
In addition, the Order and Justice party won 11 seats, the Liberal Movement won 10 seats, the Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania won 8 seats, the Way of Courage party won 7 seats, the Peasant and Greens Union won 1 seat. And 3 seats are held by independent candidates.
The parliamentary elections in Lithuania were held on Oct. 14 and 28, 2012.
According the Law on Elections to the Seimas in Lithuania, all 141 seats in the Seimas were up for election, 71 of them were filled through a two round race, one from each constituency; the remaining 70, through party proportional representation from the results of the first round.
Nevertheless, due to the election violations in this year, VRK canceled election results in single-member constituency of Zarasai-Visaginas. So, 140 MPs will work in the newly elected Seimas, 70 members of Parliament were elected from the party representations and 70 from each constituency.
The new parliament is expected to hold the first plenary sitting in the middle of November.
