Mr Katainen’ security chief Timo Harkonen told broadcaster YLE that the prime minister’s bodyguards ’prevented [the incident] from becoming a dangerous situation’
But Robert Seger, a photographer with a Finnish newspaper who witnessed the incident, said the man dropped to his knees before the prime minister holding a knife but did not attack him.
’He was trying to get Katainen’s attention,’ Mr Seger said.
