APA reports that the document will be discussed and put to vote at the unauthorized meeting of the supreme legislative body at 12.00 by Baku time. If the law is approved, the Turkish army will be able to enter the territory of Syria and conduct military operations to ensure the safety of the country.

On 3 October, a mortar bomb fired from Syria lands in a residential district (Shanliurfa) in Turkey; killing a woman and four children from the same family. At least 9 other people were wounded. Turkey signaled over the weekend that it would take action if there was a repeat of a mortar strike which damaged homes last Friday. Turkish government informed NATO about the situation. The ambassadors of NATO member-countries held extraordinary discussions on the fact. According to the NATO representatives it is too early to apply the provisions of the 5th Article of Alliance’s Charter, which means “If any member countries subjected to aggression, the others must work together to respond to the aggressor”.

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu discussed the situation with the US Secretary of State Hilary Clinton. Mrs. Clinton assured her Turkish counterpart that the UN and NATO will support Turkey.

The Syrian government explained its bombing act as a respond to the terrorist coming to Syria through the very residential district of Turkey. Turkey’s military hits targets inside Syria in response to a mortar bomb fired from Syrian territory which killed five Turkish civilians on 3 October.
