Baku – APA. Police arrested a man suspected of shooting dead four people in a town in northeastern Spain on Wednesday, APA reports quoting “Associated Press”.
In a statement, police said a man walked into a bar in the town of Olot on Wednesday morning and shot two men dead with a shotgun. Minutes later, he went to a bank and killed two staff members.
La Vanguardia newspaper and other media outlets said the two men who died in the bar were a construction company owner and his son, and that the suspect had worked for their firm.
The paper cited unidentified police sources as saying the man had a mortgage at the bank for an apartment that was going to be seized for nonpayment. It added that he had not been paid and was unable to cash a check at the bank.
No one was available at police headquarters in the nearby provincial capital of Girona for comment on the case.
Olot mayor Lluis Sacrest told local RAC-1 radio that financial problems appeared to have been behind the killings but did not provide further details. Police identified the suspect only as Pere P.P., a 57-year-old Spaniard.
