Baku. Victoria Dementieva – APA. Energy efficacy and security are to be the top items on Hungary’s agenda when the country takes over the EU presidency starting in 2011. According to APA, Hungarian Deputy Development Minister Ivan Kovacs told journalists that the country wants to go beyond energy security in the west-east dimension. Kovacs underlined that another priority for the Hungarian presidency will be investments in energy infrastructure. Among the most important energy projects, including the South Stream gas pipeline from Russia to Bulgaria as well as the proposed Nabucco line from Azerbaijan to Europe, Kovacs also gave his support for a project that would link Azerbaijan with Georgia and Romania, which borders Hungary. “Azerbaijani gas will be able to reach Europe in such a way,” the minister said, adding that the plans for the proposed line would be ready by 2015-2106.
Hungary will take the EU presidency for January-June, 2011.
