Baku-APA. Estonia plans to get rid of street telephone booths and cancel the use of telephone cards intended for them starting Wednesday, country’s Elion telecommunications company said in a statement, APA reports quoting RIA Novosti.
According to the company, the decision was made as the use of street telephone booths is no longer in demand and the given service is marginal.
The annual loss from the maintenance of some 500 booths in Estonia amounts to one million krooni (about $84,700) and the number of telephone calls made from them decreased by 30 times over the past 10 years, the company said.
Those having valid telephone cards with remaining money for calls may turn them for reimbursement to Elion offices starting December 1, the company added.
