Lisbon - APA. Today, morning meeting of NATO Lisbon summit has been devoted to Afghanistan problems, APA reports.

After the meeting, by the participation of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen and Afghan President Hamid Karzai have signed a joint statement on long-term partnership.

According to this statement, even after withdrawing of NATO forces from Afghanistan, Afghanistan will remain long-term partner of NATO in struggle against terrorism. After NATO ends its military mission in this country and after NATO’s military forces leave Afghanistan until 2014, the alliance is intending to keep here special instructor counsellors.

NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen confirmed these details at the joint press conference held with Afghan President Hamid Karzai. He noted that even after withdrawing of NATO forces from Afghanistan, the North Atlantic Alliance would continue cooperation with this country in struggle against terrorism. Moreover he called Taliban not to rejoice about news on soonest withdrawing of NATO forces from Afghanistan: “We will not leave Afghanistan until finishing our works completely”.
