France announces new cabinet

Baku – APA. French President’s chief of staff Claude Gueant has announced the new government. APA reports that foreign minister and defense ministers have been replaced. Former justice minister Michele Alliot-Marie will replace Bernard Kouchner as foreign minister. Former Prime Minister Alain Juppe has been appointed defense minister. Michel Mercier, President Nicolas Sarkozy’s ally in the parliament coalition, has been appointed as justice minister. Labor Minister Eric Woerth has been dismissed. There are 31 ministers in the new team, compared with 37 before. The authorities of the interior ministry have been extended. Finance ministry and ministry of industry will fulfill the functions of the economy ministry.
Nicolas Sarkozy reappointed François Fillon as prime minister yesterday. He has been holding this post since 2007.
