Baku-APA. Authorities in Bosnia-Herzegovina say several suspected gang members have been arrested in connection with the 2007 robbery of nearly $2 million at the Sarajevo airport, APA reports quoting voanews.com website.
A spokesman for state prosecutors issued a statement Tuesday saying the criminal gang’s alleged ringleader was one of those arrested. The gang also is accused of several murders.
Authorities have refused to identify the suspects or disclose how many are in custody.
Four men wearing police uniforms stormed a cargo zone at Sarajevo’s international airport in December 2007 and made off with bags of cash belonging to a local bank.
A Balkan news report says two other suspects were arrested earlier, including a former worker at the cargo center. The two are currently on trial in connection with the heist.
