Baku - APA. Preliminary results of the referendum has been announced.Preliminary results from a referendum in Turkey over a constitutional reform package showed that 59.9 pct of the voters say "Yes" while 40.1 pct voted against, APA reports.
Initial counts showed 60 percent of Turkish voters approved the constitutional amendments in the referendum on Sunday, with 67 percent of ballot boxes counted.
49 million 446 thousand 369 voters cast their ballots in 151 thousand 546 boxes. 1 million 61 thousand people were on duty at the polling stations together with the political party representatives during the 6th referendum Turkey held.
The ballot paper was divided into two with a “Yes” sign, printed on the white and “No” printed on the brown side of the paper. Polls closed at 16.00 a.m. in the eastern provinces and at 17.00 a.m. in the rest of the country. Some 50 million people were eligible to vote in the referendum that fell on the 30th anniversary of the 1980 coup.
