Azerbaijan gets rise in solar and wind power production

Baku. Agshin Rafigoglu - APA-Economics. In January-May 2016 the production and services in the sector of production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam made AZN 740.5 mln, down 6.5% by contrast to a year earlier.

Output in the water supply, waste treatment and processing sector dropped 0.8% to AZN 93.5 mln.

In January-May 2016 Azerbaijan produced 9,307.7 mln kWh of energy, down 7.0% in comparison with 2015.

Of this, 8,892.9 kWh makes heating power which is 6.8% less than previous year.

822.0 kWh is water power production, 15.9% over against 2015.

Wind power stations produced 7.9 kWh of energy, up 2.7 times from previous year. Solar power production increased 17.5 times to 20.8 kWh.

At the same time, Azerbaijan produced 8,042.2 kWh of heating energy in the reporting period, down 8.9% by contrast to a year earlier.
