"The United States attaches great importance to relations with Azerbaijan. The Southern Gas Corridor represents the foundation of our successful bilateral partnership based on mutual interests," Eric Jacobs, Senior Advisor to the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Energy Resources (ENR) said during his speech at 11th Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council Ministerial Meeting and the 3rd Green Energy Advisory Council Ministerial Meeting, APA-Economics reports.
According to him, the Southern Gas Corridor, as an embodiment of ambition, enables Azerbaijan to utilize its rich energy resources not only for the country's prosperity but also for that of the entire region.
"Azerbaijan has already become a reliable supplier for dozens of countries. Like the United States, Azerbaijan possesses vast energy resources. U.S. President Donald Trump called energy the cornerstone of American advantage and the key to its security. Thanks to our nation's energy wealth, creating economic opportunities, improving healthcare and education, and enhancing our citizens' quality of life remain every good nation's responsibility," Jacobs emphasized.
He highlighted that natural gas is no longer considered merely a transitional fuel toward an uncertain energy future: "Natural gas is a reliable, accessible, and secure energy source for all of us, and will remain so for decades to come. As the fuel of choice, natural gas is now essential for meeting global energy demand. Just days ago, I was at the Sangachal terminal. It's clear Azerbaijan has never forgotten that natural gas remains a fundamental energy source for the country, Europe, and the world's future. Our country, including U.S. companies, sincerely desires to partner in identifying and accelerating opportunities for your and your energy sector's economic growth and energy security."
