In the first nine months of this year, Georgia imported 372.76 million kilowatt-hours of electricity from Azerbaijan, APA's local bureau reports, citing the report of the Georgian State Electrosystem JSC.
Compared to the same period last year, Georgia’s electricity imports from Azerbaijan increased 6.7 times.
During the reporting period, Georgia’s total electricity imports amounted to 1 billion 542 million kilowatt-hours. The main supplier was Russia with 672.73 million kilowatt-hours (43.6%). Azerbaijan met 24.18% of Georgia’s electricity demand.
From January to September, 519.94 million kilowatt-hours of electricity were transited from Azerbaijan to Türkiye via Georgia. This figure is down 49% year-on-year.
