Azerbaijan’s trade turnover with member and observer countries of the Organization of Turkic States exceeded 7.3 billion dollars last year, said Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov during his speech at the 5th meeting of the Energy Ministers of the Organization of Turkic States held today in Istanbul, APA-Economics reports.
The minister noted that 70–80% of the mutual investment portfolio, exceeding 20 billion dollars, is accounted for by the energy sector.
“It was highlighted that nearly 53 million tons of Azerbaijani, Kazakh, and Turkmen oil were delivered to global markets via the BTC pipeline last year and in the first 11 months of this year. Türkiye was supplied with 18.7 billion cubic meters of gas, while European countries received 24.6 billion cubic meters via Türkiye. The commissioning of the Iğdır–Nakhchivan gas pipeline, TPAO’s participation in the Shafag-Asiman project, the supply of 366 million cubic meters of gas to Syria to date, as well as the launch of an exploration project in Uzbekistan, were assessed as achievements of a new phase of energy cooperation among the Turkic states,” the minister noted.
“In the context of regional projects, it was emphasized that Azerbaijan’s energy policy—particularly the transmission of the renewable energy potential of Azerbaijan, the Caspian Sea, and Central Asia to the Turkish and European markets through diversified routes—aligns with the priorities of the ‘Turkic Green Vision’ and the ‘Gabala Declaration’. The ‘Trans-Caspian’, ‘Azerbaijan–Türkiye–Europe’, ‘Azerbaijan–Georgia–Türkiye–Bulgaria’, as well as the ‘Caspian–Black Sea–Europe’ green energy corridor and interconnector projects serve to strengthen the unity of the Turkic states through energy cooperation. The ‘Central Asia–Azerbaijan Green Energy Corridor’ will, for the first time in history, connect the electricity systems of our countries, while the Zangezur Corridor will ensure the delivery of this energy flow to Türkiye, creating the ‘Central Asia–Azerbaijan–Türkiye’ energy bridge,” the minister added.
