Azerbaijan unveils its oil and gas processing indicators

Last year, 90% of the commercial oil products produced at SOCAR's Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery (NEZ) were directed to the domestic market, and the remaining 10% was exported, this is mentioned in the Cabinet of Ministers' report for 2024, APA reports.

The report indicates that last year, 5.809 million tons of crude oil were processed at the refinery, producing 1.251 million tons of automobile gasoline, 590.3 thousand tons of jet fuel, 2.062 million tons of diesel fuel, 178.2 thousand tons of liquefied gas, 265 thousand tons of bitumen, 12 thousand tons of lubricating oils, 183.4 thousand tons of coke, and other products.

As a result of the measures implemented, the depth of oil refining reached 97.5%, with 90% of the commercial oil products directed to the domestic market, and the remaining 10% exported, the report states.

It is also noted that during the reporting period, revenue from oil product exports amounted to 273.6 million USD, while domestic sales generated 4.735 billion manats.

The report further indicates that in 2024, SOCAR's Gas Processing Plant processed 3.377 billion cubic meters of natural gas, producing 3.327 billion cubic meters of purified dry gas, 12.2 thousand tons of technical butane, and 26 thousand tons of gasoline.

All of the gasoline produced was supplied to the "Azərikimya" Production Union as raw material, while technical butane was entirely directed to the domestic market.

Additionally, 652 thousand tons of nitrogen fertilizer were produced at the Carbamide Plant, with 63 thousand tons directed to the domestic market and 570 thousand tons exported. At the Methanol Plant, 516.5 thousand tons of methanol were produced from 555.3 million cubic meters of gas, with 95% of it being exported.

In 2024, SOCAR Polymer LLC produced 124 thousand tons of polypropylene and 73 thousand tons of high-density polyethylene, of which 99% was exported, and 1% was sold on the domestic market.
