All newly constructed, reconstructed, and majorly renovated residential and non-residential buildings in Azerbaijan will be required to undergo mandatory energy efficiency certification, APA reports.
It is reflected in the newly proposed Article 17.3 of the draft law "On the Efficient Use of Energy Resources and Energy Efficiency," which was discussed at today's meeting of the Milli Majlis.
According to the draft, excluding the buildings (structures) included in the list of world, national, and locally significant historical and cultural monuments, auxiliary and temporary structures, greenhouses and warehouse buildings, industrial buildings, individual residential houses, advertising structures specified in Article 81.1 of the Urban Planning and Construction Code, and construction objects that are not required to undergo expert examination as specified in Article 89.1 of the same code, for all other residential and non-residential buildings, energy efficiency certification will be mandatory.
Certification will be mandatory for newly constructed, reconstructed, and thoroughly renovated residential and non-residential buildings after this law comes into force; it will not apply to buildings already in operation.
Note that Article 17.1.2 of the current law reflects the rules for energy efficiency certification of buildings, and these rules will be approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.
The draft law was put to a vote and adopted at the first reading.
