The energy sector promises good prospects in the context of trilateral cooperation, said Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, Shahin Mustafayev, at a trilateral meeting of representatives of the governments of Azerbaijan, Russia, and Iran held in Baku, APA reports.
The Deputy Prime Minister noted that currently there are separate connections between the Azerbaijani electricity grid and both the Iranian and Russian electricity grids, and these connections allow for the exchange and trade of electricity: "The issue on the agenda of our cooperation in this area is the project of connecting the electricity grids of Azerbaijan, Iran, and Russia in a trilateral format. Of course, the measures we are implementing in the transport sector necessitate the synchronous improvement of the infrastructure of customs and border checkpoints. In this context, the simplification and digitalization of customs operations are among the priority areas of cooperation. Therefore, today's trilateral meeting will be devoted to discussing all these urgent issues.
We are confident that the negotiations we will hold and the decisions we will make will contribute to the further strengthening of our cooperation in the relevant areas, and will be beneficial for all three countries and for our region as a whole."
