The 10th meeting of the Ministers/Steering Committee was held in Budapest, Hungary, to implement the "Agreement on Strategic Partnership in the Development and Transmission of Green Energy between Azerbaijan, Georgia, Hungary, and Romania", APA-Economics reports.
Azerbaijan was represented by Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov, Hungary by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjártó, Georgia by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili, Romania by Minister of Energy Sebastian Burduja, and Bulgaria by Minister of Energy Zhecho Stankov. Representatives from the European Commission, the Joint Venture (GECO Power Company), and CESI also participated in the meeting.
At the meeting, the development of Azerbaijan's renewable energy potential, progress and prospects of the "Caspian-Black Sea-Europe Green Energy Corridor" project were reviewed. The activities of the "Green Energy Corridor Energy Company" (GECO), the involvement of Bulgaria in the project, the current status of the technical-economic justification (TEJ) conducted by CESI, and issues related to cooperation with the European Union (EU) on financing the project were discussed.
Following the discussions, a Protocol on the outcomes of the meeting and a Joint Letter to the European Union's Energy Commissioner, Dan Yorgensen, were signed by the ministers of the four countries.
It was also agreed to initiate the procedure for Bulgaria’s accession to the Intergovernmental Agreement.
Within the framework of the meeting, a relevant document was signed for the transfer of key rights and obligations under the contract between the Ministry of Energy and CESI to GECO.
It was decided that the next meeting of the ministers will be held in Georgia.
At the conclusion, a briefing was held on the outcomes of the ministers' meeting in Budapest.

"The Budapest meeting of the Ministers - Steering Committee on the creation of a "green energy" corridor between Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania and Hungary concluded with important results," Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said this on his X account, APA-Economics reports.
According to the information, a "Joint Letter from Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania, and Hungary to the European Union (EU) Energy Commissioner Dan Jorgensen" was signed to grant the project the PMI status (Project Mutual Interest).
"The inclusion of the project in the EU's Ten-Year Network Development Plan (TYNDP), Bulgaria's joining the project, and necessary steps related to the fiber-optic cable (FOC) component were also agreed upon. A relevant document was signed regarding the transfer of authority and obligations for technical and economic justification to the Joint Enterprise (GECO Power Company)," the post states.
