BakGaz Chief Tahir Aliyev: Most people still use substandard gas appliances

â€œWe are working closely with the partner company to raise awareness and check the observance of gas safety rules in households. The quality of natural gas we are supplying has no part in producing carbon monoxide. This is verified by quality certificates. Before the gas reaches end-users, it is refined, pumped to the distribution network and re-purified there,â€ he added, hitting back at critics who blamed the quality of gas for the recent fatal incidents.
According to him, lack or malfunction of smoke shafts are, in part, to blame for blasts and poisoning.
He sited home safety inspections as saying most people still use substandard heaters and Iranian-made gas stoves which are not approved for the safe use.
In his words, people donâ€™t obey the measure which banned the use of natural gas for heating in high-rise apartment buildings.
The statement comes after several instances of , blasts, death and poisoning of carbon monoxide from gas- powered heaters.
