Baku. Rashad Suleymanov – APA-Economics. 70 million tons of crude oil have been pumped via Baku-Tblisi-Ceyhan (BTC) Pipeline from June 2006 to the end of 2008, said Botas International Limited, operator of Turkish segment of the pipeline.
The BTC Pipeline project, which is described as the "energy project of the century", has carried about 70 million tons of Caspian oil to world markets through Turkey, said the report, quoting officials from Turkish Pipeline Corporation International Limited.
According to the report, the crude oil has been relayed with 650 tankers at the Haydar Aliyev Sea terminal in Ceyhan port of Turkey’s southern Adana province since June 2, 2006.
The BTC crude pipeline covers a distance of 1,768 km from the Azeri-Chirag-Gunesli oil field in the Caspian Sea to the Mediterranean.
It connects Azerbaijan capital Baku, Georgian capital Tbilisi, and Ceyhan, a port on southern Mediterranean coast of Turkey.
BTC is the second longest oil pipeline in the world after the Druzhba pipeline, which connects Russia and Europe.
