Head of OSCE observation mission: â€œI canâ€™t find words to comment on how impudently my words were misrepresentedâ€

An article titled “The German MP had to respond for praising the elections” was posted on the website of the Azadlig newspaper on October 18, 2013. The article gives information about the rally held by about 20 Azerbaijanis living in Germany outside the headquarters of Social Democratic Party (SPD) in Ludwigshafen city, where the Bundestag and SDP member Ms. Doris Barnett lives. The article says the rally was held after Ms. Doris Barnett, head of the OSCE PA observation mission on the presidential elections in Azerbaijan on October 9, said the elections were organized on the high level. It also alleges that Ms. Barnett met with the protesters and said her statements on the elections were misrepresented.

Azerbaijani Embassy in the Federal Republic of Germany sent a questionnaire to Ms. Barnett in this regard to learn her attitude to the issue.

The Embassy told APA that Ms. Barnett sent a letter of respond, which said: “I can’t find words to comment on how impudently my words were misrepresented and the facts falsified. I will also send a letter to the spokesman of the protesters from Mainz city in this regard.”
