APA reports that chairman of the European Strategic Intelligence and Security Center, head of observation mission laude Moniquet said that the delegation consisting of 9 persons monitored the elections and issued a final statement.
Moniquet says the statement covers monitoring and results: “International NGO members monitored 200 polling stations including Baku, Sumgayit and other neigboring territories within a day and vote counting at the 11 stations. Moreover, we witnessed portable ballot boxes for disabled persons, establishment of polling stations for jails in Baku, military units and IDPs in Sumgayit. Organization of voting in the jail is hard from in terms of security. Therefore, this is praiseworthy. Local observers – NGOs, party members actively participated in the polling stations. Voter turnout was high among the women and men. Today, young men and women in France and Israel are not interested in participation in the elections and politics. However, young Azerbaijani women and men take an active part in the elections. At the same time, we witnessed participation of international observers in the vote counting process and protection of international standards. We are satisfied with open attitude of officials, especially members of Central Election Commission with respect to the international observers. Their attitude facilitated work of international observers who monitored the voting in Baku”.
Head of the observation mission said that according to monitoring at the polling stations and conclusions, the presidential elections in Azerbaijan have been held in accordance with the standards and transparently. He says though Azerbaijan lives in transitional period, the presidential elections have been held transparently. Appreciating the role of media, Claude Maniquet said that media participated in this process properly.
