Baku – APA. “At the meeting with the Azerbaijani side on the eve of the elections, the U.S. officials always stressed that President Ilham Aliyev enjoys high trust rating, has no alternative and the Head of State is supported by all sections of the population due to the ongoing comprehensive socio-economic programs,” said Elnur Aslanov, Head of Political Analysis and Information Provision Department of the Presidential Administration, answering the question “At the press briefing spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State Jen Psaki commented on the statement issued by Ramiz Mehdiyev, head of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration, that on the eve of the presidential elections the U.S. officials suggested them to take 74-75% of votes and give 25% of votes to the candidate of the National Council. What can you say about it?”

Reacting to the refutation of the U.S. Department of State press service, Elnur Aslanov said: “It is necessary to note that the figures quoted by Ramiz Mehdiyev, head of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration, were voiced by the U.S. officials, especially by Ambassador Morningstar at the meeting with Azerbaijani government officials and representatives of the Presidential Administration. We consider it unacceptable to say one thing during closed meetings and another thing for media. As regards the position of the U.S. Department of State we can say only one thing - the whole world saw in the example of WikiLeaks what their real actions and refutations are worth of.”
