Baku. Mubariz Aslanov – APA. “The biased report of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) has delivered a serious and shattering blow to its cooperation with Azerbaijan,” chairman of the Azerbaijani Parliament’s committee on legal policy and state-building Ali Huseynli told APA.

Huseynli said that Azerbaijan has already set a task to be among the developed countries and in this regard, the standards in the relations with the international organizations should be reviewed: “Because the cooperation with organizations like OSCE ODIHR was intended for a transition period. For example, Azerbaijan is not the one that existed 10 years ago. From this point of view, the cooperation with OSCE ODIHR and other alike international organizations must be stopped not only due to the biased report of this organization on the elections, but also due to Azerbaijan’s new stage of development and the end of the relevant period. We have recently reconsidered our cooperation with OSCE, as well. We don’t need such organizations to monitor the elections in our country. We have already expressed our position at the Council of Europe that Azerbaijan should be removed from the list of countries under monitoring.”

The Committee Chairman also touched on the statement of Head of the Presidential Administration Ramiz Mehdiyev that before the elections the United States offered to give 22-25% of the votes to the candidate of the National Council. He said not only the U.S., but also other international organizations or their representations in Baku, even the observers put forward the same proposals at the conversations with representatives of the Azerbaijani authorities: “We participated in most of these meetings. They told us “if Ilham Aliyev wins more than 80% of votes in the elections, the international community won’t accept it, it would be better if the percentage of votes is lower” etc. Pre-election polls showed that Ilham Aliyev would win more than 80-85% of votes. The result of the elections was the same. So, how can the results of elections be interfered in? It seems that winning the elections by such a large margin is surprising for the international community, as well as for the U.S. These countries have no leaders who have won the elections by such a large margin and such a leader is rarely found in the world. However, it is normal and real for the Azerbaijani public that the people are supporting the leader basing on their national feelings. The programs and activities carried out by Ilham Aliyev are growing and his rating his high.”
