Azerbaijani president: Armenia faces mass emigration, people unable to stand such conditions any more

Baku – APA. One advantage of Azerbaijan is that its population is growing. Some of neighboring countries, especially Armenia, are undergoing a demographic recession. The number of the people living there has decreased dramatically. Therefore, there is mass emigration; people are unable to stand such conditions any more. On the other hand, there is no natural growth. But our population is growing. This is our advantage, a hug, President Ilham Aliyev said on Sept.17.

President Ilham Aliyev made the remarks at a meeting with Agshu residents.

The head of state noted that the country's economy should grow in line with the natural growth.

"The population of Azerbaijan is growing by about 100,000 people every year, maybe more, and will increase even more in future. Therefore, our economy should grow accordingly. In recent years, more than a million new work places were opened. However, this should be an ongoing process. Therefore, new crop areas put into use, large reservoirs like Takhtakorpu and Shamkirchay, and other small reservoirs will help develop agriculture. Employment should be increased and employment eliminated completely, and people should live a better life,” he said.

The president noted that there has to be the kind of products in future which can be exported to any foreign market.

"Azerbaijani will introduce itself to the world as a country capable of producing and exporting large volumes of products. Economic development will then be sustainable. Our economy will be less dependent on oil prices because the ongoing financial and economic crisis in the world is inevitably affecting us too. Oil prices dropped more than twice and our revenues declined. We are implementing all the social projects; not a single one [of them] has stopped," said the president.

President Aliyev said that Azerbaijan is an example to the world even in this difficult period.

"Therefore, it’s no coincidence that they now write articles about Azerbaijan's successful development model. I am sure that in the near future they will write and dessert scientific papers. The Azerbaijani miracle, it’s really a miracle. It’s indeed very heroic of the Azerbaijani people developing, strengthening stability, and pushing the country forward in such a geo-political situation,” the head of state completed.
