Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will hold talks with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi in Tehran today, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said, APA reports.
The talks are expected to focus on international and regional issues, particularly the situation surrounding Iran and ways to reduce tensions in the Middle East.
The Russian side stated that one of the main objectives of the meeting is to accelerate the implementation of agreements reached between the two countries and strengthen their comprehensive strategic partnership.
The parties will also discuss trade, economic and investment cooperation, as well as the implementation of major transport, logistics and energy projects. The agenda also includes strengthening coordination within the UN and expanding cooperation within BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the Eurasian Economic Union.
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, this will be the fourth face-to-face meeting between Lavrov and Araghchi in 2026.
