Deputy Prime Minister, Deputy Chairman and Executive Secretary of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP), Ali Ahmadov made the remarks in an interview to the official website of the party.

Noting that the result is absolutely predictable and understandable, Ahmadov said that the opposition has been shaken and split up.

“The role of opposition in the political life of Azerbaijan is almost invisible. Now, the opposition, especially its aggressive part sees the political struggle and political activism in cooperation with various groups abroad. The worst thing is that those groups, as a rule, never hide their anti-Azerbaijani position. As a result, that wing of the opposition becomes an anti-Azerbaijani element. Another name of it is the “5th column”. Obviously, those who prefer their interests to the interests of people cannot rely on the people’s support. One should look for the reason for the absence of the some circles of the opposition in it. We believe the people, while they have felt away from the public. It means that the forces are unequal, the only judge of the election is voters, in other words, the people”, Ahmadov noted.
