Azerbaijani Constitutional Court approves CEC protocol on results of presidential elections - <span style="color: red;">UPDATED  - <span style="color: red;">PHOTOSESSION

Chairman of the Constitutional Court Farhad Abdullayev has presided over the plenary meeting.

Following the reporting judges, Sona Salmanova and Rafael Gvaladze delivered speeches. Salmanova said that the CEC had sent to the court a protocol on the results of the elections for approval. Gvaladze said according to the protocol, Ilham Aliyev won the elections with more than half of votes.

CEC chairman Mazahir Panahov addressed the plenary meeting. He said that all conditions were created for the presidential candidates to conduct campaigns. They were allocated airtime and allowed addressing the media: “The presidential elections were monitored by international and local observers and journalists. The initial results of the elections were quickly highlighted. Voter turnout was high. The international organizations also announced that the Azerbaijani elections have been free and objective. We drew up a protocol on the results of the elections. According to the results, most of voters participated in the elections. The protocol was submitted to the Constitutional Court for approval.”

Jamil Hasanli wanted to address the meeting. But Abdullayev objected it and said that only representatives of CEC and invited experts can make speeches at such meetings. Other persons can attend the meeting, but they have no right to address.

Following this, the judges left for advisement.

After returning Farhad Abdullayev declared the decision on behalf of the Constitutional Court.

According to the decision, the protocol regarding the results of October 9 presidential elections submitted by CEC to the court for approval and official declaration was considered at the plenary meeting. The plenary meeting confirmed the protocol of the CEC. Ilham Aliyev was declared president as he gained 84.54% of the votes.

The decision comes into force from the date of declaration.

Baku. Shahriyar Alizadeh – APA. The Constitutional Court of Azerbaijan has started a Plenary Meeting.

APA reports that the issue of approving the protocol submitted by the Central Election Commission regarding the results of the presidential elections is being considered at the Plenary Meeting.

Chairman of the Constitutional Court Farhad Abdullayev is presiding over the Plenary Meeting.
