APA reports that the Head of State and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva started their visit by putting flowers at the monument to the national leader Heydar Aliyev in the center of the city.
Head of the Guba Region Executive Authorities Mubariz Aghayev informed the President about the construction work and landscaping in the region.
Following this, the President and his spouse attended the opening of Guba Genocide Memorial Complex established with the support of Heydar Aliyev Foundation. First, President Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva familiarized with the conditions created at the information center of the complex.
It was told that all sections of the complex and special audio guide devices installed aside from exhibits are available for detailed information in Azerbaijani, English and Russian.
The Head of State paid tribute to the victims of the genocide and laid a wreath in front of the complex.
It was told that the mass burial site covers 514 square meters area. Though 494 sq m area has been researched, 20 sq m has been left for international research. The research found out remains of more than 400 human bodies of various age groups.
More than 50 of the remains belonged to children, 100 to women, the rest to the old men. Along with Azerbaijanis, Lezgins, Jews, Tats and representatives of other ethnic groups severely killed by Armenians were buried there.
Following this, the Head of State met with Guba residents and made a speech at the event.
President Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva planted trees in memory of the victims.

APA’s north bureau reports that the Head of State attended the opening of the Genocide Memorial Complex. President Aliyev was informed about construction work at the complex.
Guba mass burial site caused by the genocide committed by Armenians against Azerbaijanis was discovered on April 1, 2007. The employees of Archeology and Ethnography Institute of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences found out the bones of more than 400 people. More than 50 of the remains belonged to children, 100 to women, the rest to the old men. Along with Azerbaijanis, Lezgins, Jews, Tats and representatives of other ethnic groups killed by Armenians were buried there.
