The members of the committee defending the rights of Nigar Yagublu, imprisoned deputy chairperson of Musavat Party Youth Organization, held a press conference, APA reports. Chairperson of the committee Mehriban Vezir said the appeal filed by Nigar Yagublu will be considered on November 13.
Lawyer Elton Guliyev said his client faced biased approach. Guliyev noted that Yagublu’s imprisonment was groundless. He underlined that there were serious shortcomings in the investigation.
Nigar Yagublu’s other defender Adil Ismayilov said 10 members of the Azerbaijani parliament appealed to court regarding Yagublu’s imprisonment.
“The appeal signed by Sabir Rustamkhanli, Igbal Aghazadeh, Ilyas Ismayilov, Fazail Aghamali, Fazil Mustafa, Faraj Guliyev, Gudrat Hasanguliyev, Chingiz GanizadÉ™, Ali Masimli and Vahid Ahmadov has already been sent to Absheron district court,” he said.
Deputy chairman of Azerbaijan Popular Front Party Nuraddin Mammadli said there were political points of the case.
“We admit the lawyers’ wish not to politicize the case. But the existence of political points in this case is undeniable. It aims to prevent women movement in the country,” he said.
