Baku – APA. “In the first years of our state independence there was a need for the formation of a new politcal force in Azerbaijan. In November, 1992, the national leader Heydar Aliyev gathered the country's influential intellectuals and held the constitituent conference of the New Azerbaijan Party in Nakhchivan. One of the goals of the party was to restore the political stability in the country and lead the people out of the moral crisis. New Azerbaijan Party won fame among the people within a short period of time,” President of Azerbaijan, chairman of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) Ilham Aliyev said at the reception on the 20th anniversary of YAP, APA reports.
The head of state underlined that the country got out of the difficult situation after Heydar Aliyev came to power on the demand of the people in 1993.
President said the formation of a new national ideology was one of the major issues that the national leader focused on in the first years of YAP. He noted that Azerbaijan, which was formed basing on the policy founded by Heydar Aliyev, has become one of the economically developed and exemplary countries in terms of political stability.
The Head of State also noted the merits of YAP members, the biggest political force of the South Caucasus. President said the extension of the party, which members reached 600 000, by young people is an important process. “We have no rival in the political arena of Azerbaijan”.
President has announced again that the position of the state on the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, one of the main problems for the country, remained unchanged: “We have strong supporters - our people, rapidly developing county, precise conceptions and programs. The role of the New Azerbaijan Party, established by the national leader Heydar Aliyev, as leading political force of the society, will further increase in the development of Azerbaijan.”
