Azerbaijani opposition is against the constitutional amendments

Baku. Ramil Mammadli–APA. The Peace and Democracy Institute held a roundtable on discussions conducted at the Parliament over the bill on referendum for the constitutional amendments and annexes on Friday. Director of the Institute Leila Yunus called the discussions on lifting of restrictions on election of one person for more than twice as an anti-democratic action. She said the Azerbaijani society should protest adoption of this bill and holding referendum.

ADP Chairman Sardar Jalaloglu, AXCP Chairman Ali Karimli, Musavat leader Isa Gambar, Chairman of the Citizen and Development Party Ali Aliyev, KXCP Deputy Chairman Beybala Abil and others also spoke against the constitutional amendments.

The bill on referendum for the constitutional amendments and annexes was discussed at the Parliament’s standing commission of legal policy and state-building and human rights commission as well and was advised to be discussed at the Parliament. The project contains point about the removal of article restricted election of one person for more than twice from the Constitution.
